Dr. Chuck Esterly moved to Missouri after graduating from the University of Illinois. He received a Masters Degree in Wildlife Research and served in the United States Army before returning to the University of Missouri to get his DVM degree.

He has worked closely with Lincoln University – overseeing all animal research of both laboratory and production animals – assuring that all animal usage follows the guidelines set forth by the federal government, American Veterinary Medical Association ,National Institute of Health, and the United States Department of Agriculture’s policies. Dr. Esterly also attends to the various illnesses of the resident creatures at the Missouri Department of Conservation Nature Center.

Dr. Esterly’s wife Dr. Rita Esterly – a psychologist – has been very involved in the Jefferson City community. Rita co-chaired the committee that raised the money to build the Performing Arts Center. This – along with work on numerous projects led to her being named “Jefferson Citys Zonta Woman of the Year” in 2006. Her most recent passion has been Rotary in which she became club president and later served a term as District Governor.

Our children attended Helias High School which propelled them to their current careers. Ali – after graduation from the University of Missouri and Miami Ad School – resides in San Francisco, California where she is a Creative Director. Tony – a Truman State graduate – received his PharmD degree at the University of Kentucky where he met his wife Lauren. She (also a PharmD) and Tony have given Dr. Esterly his three favorite pets – Charlie, John and Bradley – grandsons that reside in LaGrange, Kentucky.

Our children and our pets are what truly makes life such a reward.
